Our Story

Thai House opened its doors in 1982 as the very first Thai restaurant in Redlands — and more than forty years later, it's still run by the same family. The recipes that fill our kitchen have been handed down across generations, and we cook them the way they were meant to be cooked: by hand, from scratch, fresh upon ordering. What began as one family's love of cooking has grown into a Redlands institution, but the heart of the place has never changed.

Our cooking draws on all four regions of Thailand — North, East, South, and West — balancing the five flavors of spicy, sour, sweet, salty, and savory on every plate. Sauces and dressings are made from scratch daily, and many of our herbs and spices are grown in our own garden, just a few steps from the kitchen. Tell us how hot you like it, and we'll cook each dish to your exact level of spice — mild enough for a first taste of Thai, or fiery enough for a seasoned palate.

We serve Thai meals the way they're meant to be shared — family style, so everyone at the table can taste a little of everything (and be sure to save room for one of our authentic desserts). Beyond the plate, we pour a thoughtful list of beers, wines, and sake, plus a full bar of cocktails to pair with your meal.

Half the experience is the room itself. We dine inside a historic renovated house, decorated like a small museum: vintage tableware, paintings, and the carved masks and characters of the Ramayana from the Royal Classic Theatre line the walls. Out back, a lantern-lit garden patio centered on a hand-carved fountain has set the scene for countless first dates, birthdays, and family dinners since the day we opened.
